Shito Ryu Karate

Karate is a Martial Art that comes from the Island of Okinawa.  Within Karate there are many different styles of training.  The style we study is called Shito-Ryu.  This style was created by Kenwa Mabuni.  He was said to be the "technician" of Kata, making stringent requirements of stances.

Okinawan Weapons

Matayoshi Kobudo

The Matayoshi family has been training and teaching kobudo (Okinawan weapons) since the 17th century.  It is considered to be one of the oldest forms of kobudo in Okinawa.  We are blessed to have trained in this style and use it to increase our knowledge of both weapons and open hand.
